Thrive Into Work

Thrive Into Work

What it is:

The Thrive into Work programme is an experimental trial that will test a new employment support service for people with a mental health and/or physical health condition in primary and community care. The trial aims to find out how good this new service is at helping people to find work.

Too many people with health issues and disabilities are out of work. The purpose of this trial is to try and get these people into work.

Appropriate and fulfilling work can help people to:

  • Quickly and effectively recover from a mental illness (if they have one) or find new ways to manage their health condition

  • Become financially independent

  • Build social connections and support networks

  • Improve general health and wellbeing

What is included in this service:

  • One-to-one support for your employment goals

  • Working with your health care team in primary and community care to help you manage any difficulties

  • Benefits advice to find out if work could increase your income

  • Help finding a job if you are not in paid employment, and continued support once you have started.

  • Meetings over the phone or in person at a location that is convenient for you

There are at least 125,000 people in the West Midlands who are out of work with a disability or health issue, mostly due to a mental health issue or musculoskeletal condition (such as back pain).

The trial is testing a new type of job support for people who have a health condition and/or a disability, and are out of work and want a job.

At Better Pathways we will be working with people in the Sandwell and West Birmingham area.
