Volunteer Driver

Our charity provides vocational skills development opportunities to help participants with poor mental health and with learning difficulties get into paid employment, education and training.

We run a charitable (social) enterprise providing fulfilment and signage services to commercial customers.  We also have a woodcraft workshop on site.  We are looking for drivers with spare time who are looking to ‘give something back’ by providing vital capacity to our team.  You will deliver and collect products to and from customer locations.

Your driving licence will need to allow you to drive a 3.5 tonne van and a forklift truck.  You will need to be fit and healthy because lifting and moving is required in this role.

Who we are

Better Pathways has been supporting people with poor mental health and with learning difficulties to participate on our vocational pathways programme for 60 years.  We have a dedicated, professional team working alongside our 80+ participants in a safe, supported space, growing their skills, confidence and self-esteem, giving them a sense of purpose and achievement and the chance to engage more fully in their communities.

We provide packing, assembly, light engineering and signage services to businesses in the West Midlands. We make woodcraft products and are currently developing our product range.  We are a valued supply chain partner supporting upwards of 20 businesses to deliver high-quality end products to their customers.

Role Description

As a valued member of our team you will be responsible for collecting goods and products from our customers and returning them.  If you would wish, you will be able to support activities on the shop floor when you are on site and not driving.

You will work to a pre-planned delivery schedule and with the support of others in the team, goods and products will be assembled on pallets, shrink wrapped and loaded into the van. Upon delivery you will need to obtain a signature on delivery notes, which must be returned to the office. You will at times be required to unload and load goods at the customer end, manual handling training will be provided by us.

You will be required to lift heavy items in and out of the vehicle, hence the need for you to be physically fit and active.
