What our participants have to say

David

Whilst coming to Better Pathways every week, David has gained experience and skills through the activities within our social enterprises, e.g., building a routine to accommodate future employment, collaborating within a team, and socialising with fellow participants. David has also enjoyed spending some wellbeing time in Better Woodwork creating a basket and painting custom doors to fulfil orders.

David receives support through the L.I.V.E. Programme, where our staff have helped him to set goals and work towards new experiences so that he may fulfil his ultimate goal of progressing into a part-time job.

He has been supported to create a CV and an email account, and has been supported with attending an appointment at Fircroft college to access the course 'Psychology of Human Relationships'.

We are currently working with David to help him follow his interest of working in catering by securing external experience in a catering environment, which will support his journey into employment.

Required assessments

To ensure the safety of all our participants, we will need to carry out some assessments following referral. These include:

  • Mobility assessments

Although there is wheelchair access, our building has some accessibility limitations, therefore, we will carry out a mobility assessment to make sure participants are able to enter into and navigate around the building safely.

  • Risk assessments

We are able to accept some participants presenting with high risks, e.g., addictions and aggressive behaviours. These participants won’t be automatically excluded, instead, a risk assessment will be undertaken with referrers and mitigations agreed.
