Better Pathways L.I.V.E. - Testimonials
Daniel- Testimonial

Our L.I.V.E. Programme participant, Daniel, told us he wanted to gain experience within Better Pathways because he wants to be around other people who have a similar experience with learning disabilities and mental health needs as himself.
When first coming to Better Pathways, he felt anxious as he didn’t know what to expect and wasn’t sure of how he would get along with other participants. However, he feels that everyone has been very open, kind, and welcoming.
He now feels comfortable within our social enterprises and has adjusted to being in a work environment and having a work routine.
Other participants have helped Daniel improve his socialisation skills; he feels as though he has gotten better at understanding people’s perspectives and their needs.
The experience and skills gained through our L.I.V.E.
Programme have resulted in Daniel securing part-time employment as a Team Member at Waitrose, and has been working there for nearly a year! This step has proved to Daniel that he can be independent, and he would like to encourage this.
With the support of the L.I.V.E.
Programme team, Daniel has expressed an interest in Fircroft College and the courses they have to offer. He attended an open day independently and returned to our L.I.V.E. Programme team saying that he is ‘absolutely buzzing’ and would like to start a course!
Daniel has started an ‘Understanding Self-confidence’ course in February. It is a residential course for 2 nights and 3 days. Daniel believes this step is improving his independence, and he is looking forward to being around like-minded people.
Daniel’s aspirations are to work towards completing a further two courses at Fircroft College, including: ‘Coping with Anxiety and Depression’ and ‘Change and Art for Emotional Wellbeing’.

William- Testimonial
I have been coming to Better Pathways for the past 8 weeks and have found everyone to be very friendly, welcoming, and all the staff are brilliant. Because I am around people who have had similar life experiences to me, I don’t feel like the odd one out where I feel that I can’t talk to anyone.
I am currently in a mental health hospital and so being here gets me out and about, prepares me for work, and prepares me to live in the community.
I’m getting the experience of work, but it feels much more supported.
I like to do a mixture of things at Better Pathways; I don’t like to do just one thing. At the moment, I like to do woodworking and hand-packing the most. And I’m excited to soon be spending more time in The Woodcraft Centre after it is refurbished.
I want to use my experience from here to get a proper job, and to use the support from Better Pathways to help me into work or even to go to college once a week.

David- Testimonial

David started with us at Better Pathways in December 2022. He was keen to begin his vocational journey and couldn’t wait to learn new skills within our social enterprises.
